Sr. Systems Engineer I

As a Sr. Systems Engineer I, you'll be responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's computer systems and servers. Key responsibilities include designing, installing, and configuring computer systems, servers, and networks, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues, implementing and managing security protocols and policies, providing technical support and leading technical projects, and overseeing server and network infrastructures and ensuring smooth operation. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems and technologies.

What you'll do:

  • You will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT Infrastructure.
  • This role combines hands-on systems administration with strategic leadership, aligning the company's modernization efforts with reliability, security, and performance.
  • You will work closely with an external managed service provider to guarantee service delivery of user support and server maintenance tasks.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator role supporting enterprise Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat/Linux environments.
  • Experience with server virtualization platforms/hypervisors in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across servers, storage, network devices, and enterprise applications.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure solutions that support organizational needs.
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and metrics.
  • Experience with security procedures, compliance standards, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a direct report (e.g., Helpdesk Technician) and coordinate activities with Managed Service Providers and vendors.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with business units and ensure IT infrastructure aligns with organizational goals.

SALARY RANGE: $78,000.00 - $124,000.00

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:

  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
