Equipment Engineer

Summary Of Duties

This exciting opportunity is a key role within R&D and will take a hands-on role in the selection, generation and validation of new process technologies and the further development of existing processing methods in developing equipment solutions for R&D. The Equipment Engineer will be a member of the Equipment Design & Development Team and will focus on the generation and implementation of robust equipment solution that will seamlessly transfer in to scale manufacturing.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Working within the Equipment Design & Development Group, liaise with Project Leaders, R&D & and other internal customers to clearly understand requirements and inputs to develop equipment solutions.
  • Investigate, select, and develop appropriate materials, vendors, technologies, and specifications to ensure that process design is robust and reproducible and capable of meeting all qualification requirements.
  • Develop and optimize fixtures, jigs and tooling for manufacturability, capacity ensuring product cost impacts are considered in all decision making such that design can be scaled seamlessly into manufacturing at required product cost.
  • Generate and maintain required Engineering and Design documentation in line with the Quality Management System and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Third level qualification preferred i.e. Engineering Diploma /FETAC Certificate in Engineering or Similar.
  • 2-4 years previous medical device experience is desired.
  • Experience working with production equipment and machinery.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Process development and validation requirements.
  • Experience in Metal processing & joining techniques and emerging process technologies, with centreless grinding an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes.
  • Working knowledge of solidworks and/or 3D modeling.
  • Working knowledge of 3D printing.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety standards by actively promoting safe work practices and participating in regular safety training.
