Provides any of the following services: unit secretary, surgical services assistant and anesthesia technician. Training will be provided for multiple skills as indicated. Provides direct patient care to all age groups under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse consistent with the established guidelines of practice, the goals of Mercy, the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the code of professional and business ethics and the coworker code of conduct. Performs related duties as assigned such as operating room turnover, patient positioning, assistant with operating room patient prep, shave preps preoperatively, specimen transport, patient transport, instrument and equipment decontamination, assistant with intraoperative sterilization processes, anesthesia set-up and turnover, arterial line set-up, fluid warmer set-up, cleaning glide scope and intubation bronchoscopes, refilling of vaporizers, picking up and returning drug kits from the anesthesia carts, stocking of supplies in the operating rooms and anesthesia carts, cross departmental responsibilities as indicated and any other duties as assigned. Individuals must be flexible and motivated.
Qualifications: Experience: None required. Education: High school diploma or GED. Certifications: BLS certification and unit education acquired by completion of probationary period. Other: May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, holidays, or work frequency according to patient requirements and service areas. May be required to work on call. Must be able to walk long distances and lift heavy items at times.
