Associate Director, Site Services Procurement
Global Procurement plays a critical role in enabling safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing operations across the Animal Health network. By partnering closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Energy, Capital Projects, and Site Procurement teams, we develop and execute category strategies that drive value, mitigate risk, and support long-term business objectives.
Within Global Category Management, this role sits at the intersection of operational excellence, supplier partnership, and sustainability. You will operate in a highly matrixed, international environment, working across regions and sites to deliver measurable impact.
Purpose of the role This role has two closely related areas of responsibility. The first is the global leadership of the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) category, encompassing spare parts, production equipment maintenance and repair services, and stores management across the manufacturing network. The second is the execution of the Global Energy category strategy across the Animal Health network, adapting and implementing the strategy to ensure supply continuity, compliance, cost effectiveness, and delivery excellence.
The Associate Director, Site Services Procurement requires strong leadership and influencing capabilities, proven project management expertise, and deep category knowledge. In this role, you will partner closely with manufacturing, capital, energy, and site procurement stakeholders across regions to drive cost efficiency, enhance supplier performance, advance sustainability initiatives, and foster innovation.
This role operates in a global environment with frequent virtual collaboration. Some international or regional travel to key manufacturing sites and supplier locations may be required.
Key responsibilities In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility across two core areas. These responsibilities are closely connected and together ensure effective category strategy, execution, and cross-functional delivery across the global network. The role is structured around the following three key pillars:
Global MRO Category Leadership
- Hold end-to-end ownership of the global MRO category, with annual spend exceeding USD 100M and a supplier base of more than 2,000 vendors.
- Lead sourcing activities for spare parts, production equipment maintenance and repair services, and stores management across 30+ manufacturing sites (Large Molecule, Small Molecule, and Technology Solutions) in EURAM, LATAM, USA, and APSA.
- Develop, implement, and continuously optimize global MRO category strategies, tailoring them to regional and site-specific requirements with strong focus on Europe and the United States.
- Lead cross-functional and cross-regional sourcing teams through the full Sourcing Management Process at global, regional, and local levels.
- Design and execute competitive sourcing events (RFI, RFQ, RFP), including supplier evaluation, commercial negotiations, and contract execution.
- Implement and manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks for key suppliers to ensure performance, compliance, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Deliver measurable cost savings and value-creation initiatives, including supplier consolidation where appropriate.
- Drive supplier diversity initiatives and contribute to Scope 3 emissions reduction through strategic sourcing and supplier engagement.
- Act as the MRO subject matter expert, advising Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Site Procurement teams.
- Lead supplier governance processes, performance reviews, escalation management, and remediation plans.
Energy Category Execution (Animal Health Network)
- Execute and adapt the Global Energy Category strategy across the Animal Health network, covering 38 sites with an annual spend of approximately USD 47M.
- Partner with Global Category Management and the Global External Energy Advisor to lead end-to-end energy sourcing initiatives.
- Manage RFIs, RFPs, e-sourcing events, supplier onboarding, due diligence, negotiations, and contract execution activities.
- Lead energy-related projects, ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and compliance requirements.
- Support site-level renewable energy initiatives (e.g. rooftop solar) in collaboration with Capital Procurement teams.
- Ensure timely execution, signature, and compliant storage of energy and utilities contracts to guarantee uninterrupted supply.
- Act as the primary execution interface for Animal Health stakeholders on energy sourcing matters.
- Monitor supplier performance against global standards and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong market intelligence on energy trends and contribute to governance forums such as the Supplier Strategy Council.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Lead and influence cross-functional teams within a complex matrix organization, engaging senior stakeholders and business leaders.
- Manage large-scale sourcing and transformation programs using strong project management discipline, including planning, risk management, change management, and benefits realization.
- Leverage data and analytics (in partnership with Data Analytics / GSMG) to inform sourcing decisions, performance tracking, and reporting.
- Embed sustainability objectives and supplier diversity goals into category strategies and sourcing activities.
- Ensure full compliance with procurement policies, governance frameworks, systems, and contract management processes (Ariba preferred).
- Coach and mentor procurement professionals and cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen sourcing capabilities and best practices.
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing.
- At least 5 years of category management experience with demonstrated leadership in MRO parts and services across multiple sites.
- Practical experience in Energy & Utilities procurement, including strategic sourcing, supplier management, and project execution.
- Proven track record of delivering category strategies that result in measurable cost savings, operational improvements, and supplier performance uplift.
- Strong project management experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder sourcing initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Comfortable working with international and remote teams.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written); strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Copilot).
- Experience with Ariba (sourcing, contracting, vendor master data) is preferred.
