Specialist Manufacturing Automation Engineer

The Specialist Manufacturing Automation Engineer in the West Point Digital Manufacturing Operations organization will be responsible for the manufacturing process automation systems in the Barrier Operations Formulation and Filling facility at the West Point, PA site. The candidate will provide day to day support functions working closely with partners in operations, engineering, maintenance, and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting challenging equipment/automation issues and innovating to improve manufacturing performance.
- Maintaining the automation systems in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Processes (cGMPs) through the life cycle of the equipment (initial qualification through retirement).
- Providing support as a representative of an existing production team, providing technical assistance in fulfilling the automation requirements for the team.
- Reviewing automation documents, preventive maintenance, and SOPs to ensure compliance with cGMP and safety.
- Developing and supporting corrective actions for investigations related to automation systems.
- Using technical knowledge to assure the efficient operation of a variety of automated processing systems.
- Participating in audits and training programs in the area of responsibility.
- Providing on-floor support of manufacturing activities.
- Generating and implementing change controls to meet the needs of the facility.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Required experience and skills:
- 2 years of relevant work experience in Manufacturing Processes and/or Manufacturing Automation
- Applies general knowledge of company business developed through education or past experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with all levels of colleagues in a team environment
- Strong technical writing skills
- Experience with navigating/troubleshooting Process Control systems, with preferred experience with the following: DeltaV DCS, Allen Bradly PLC, OPC, Siemens Step7, Modbus/Fieldbus/Profibus and other related technologies
Preferred experience and skills:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 2 years of experience (GMP Manufacturing and/or Manufacturing Automation)
- System validation and other Quality management functions.
- Experience in GMP Manufacturing - pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry.
- Understands and applies regulatory/ compliance requirements relative to their role.
- Networking, Virtual Machines, Database management and other general IT administration.
The salary range for this role is $85,600.00 - $134,800.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
