Summary: Responsible for inventorying and replenishing supply levels for all perioperative areas within the facility or health care organization. Coordinates, monitors, and controls surgical supply inventory.
Responsibilities: Communicates product changes, trials, and new products. Collaborates with department staff to evaluate new supplies, equipment, and instruments. Communicate pertinent information regarding back-orders and anticipated release dates for perioperative materials to relevant stakeholders. Ensures availability and adequate inventory (including consignment) of surgical supplies for all procedures while maintaining logs. Monitor, rotate, and remove all outdated and overstocked materials and verify that perioperative services par levels are adjusted accordingly. Notify relevant supervisory and accounting personnel of all supplies that are removed from the par level ensuring budgetary limits and assisting with goal setting and financial management of supply costs. Maintains equipment asset information accurately for processing daily charges, issues, and credits. Serves as a resource and liaison for staff, physicians, and vendors regarding purchasing, materials management and troubleshooting inventory problems.

Education and Certification Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Additional Job Information: Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, computer skills (eg, Microsoft® PowerPoint, Word, Excel), decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: No work experience required. Other Information: Knowledge of and medical supplies preferred. One (1) year of inventory control, purchasing work experience preferred.
