Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager

Memorial Hermann seeks an Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager to join our Specialty Pharmacy team in Katy. Experience in Specialty Pharmacy is highly desired. Background in mail order operations a plus. Knowledge/Experience with Willow Ambulatory and Epic Compass Rose Position is hybrid. 3 days a week in-office (Katy) and 2 days remote. The Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager area(s) of responsibility may include management of pharmacy operations or clinical services. This position manages, implements, and coordinates comprehensive pharmacy operations and/or clinical pharmacy services programs that are aligned with the overall department program, integrating best practices, emphasizing the safety and outcome optimization of our patients, and delivers the highest value care to our patients and the organization. Responsible for managing personnel and budgeting resources to affect the coordinated delivery of Pharmacy services. Position ensures that all quality, legal, regulatory and accreditation standards are met. Promotes excellence based on department and organizational goals with a commitment to the mission, philosophy, and strategic vision, direction and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy.

Certifications: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Five (5) years pharmacy experience required OR completion PGY1/PGY2 residency in Pharmacy Administration.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices and familiarity with health care reimbursement environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Experience in quality improvement, financial management, strategic planning, project management, and team building skills.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Supervises and manages the activities of all department employees, including the hiring and training of new employees. Ensures staff competencies are assessed and provides opportunities for ongoing training and education, as appropriate.
  • Evaluates pharmacy services and patient outcomes, developing or updating the services and resources available to achieve department and organizational goals.
  • Ensures pharmacy is in compliance with all state and federal regulations and accreditation standards, maintaining appropriate records, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversees pharmacy's continuous accreditation and regulatory compliance through assessment, gap analysis, action plan and timeline development, communication with key stakeholders and collaboration for implementation of corrective action.
  • Provides oversight, development, and implementation of clinical and quality pharmacy services and programs.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a process to resolve and monitor complaints and adverse events.
  • Develops and maintains system for documentation, assessment protocols, and presentation of clinical interventions based on input from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/HITECH.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to learners and pharmacy staff.
