A Day in the Life

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be an individual contributor in our technical functions, advancing existing technology or introducing new technology and therapies. You will formulate, deliver, and manage assigned projects, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve desired results. You may mentor colleagues or direct the work of junior professionals. Responsibilities focus on the development of systems or initiatives related to the support of existing technologies or therapies—from design refinement to implementation and sustaining activities—while adhering to policies and applying specialized knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, and systems for commercial, industrial, and wearable/diagnostic device applications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (FCC, ISO13485, IEC 60601, EMI/EMC).
  • Oversee certification processes and interact with certification agencies.
  • Conduct design reviews, verification, validation, and reliability testing; develop and maintain safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed design documentation and support regulatory submission processes.
  • Lead electrical system design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping; support hardware debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, including signal integrity analysis and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware engineers, to integrate hardware and software.
  • May manage projects and delegate work, providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in the medical device industry.
  • Working knowledge of design and simulation of RF antennas, as well as RF antenna testing.
  • Experience developing products in compliance with RF wireless communications standards (including Bluetooth) for medical devices.
  • Experience with Agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of software development.
  • Experience designing and developing PCBA for wearable and diagnostic devices.
  • Experience with schematics and PCB layout.
  • Experience designing to regulatory standards (FCC, ISO13485, IEC 60601, EMI/EMC).
  • Proficiency in analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Experience prototyping, debugging, and troubleshooting hardware systems.
  • Experience conducting design reviews, signal integrity analysis, and designing for manufacturability.
  • Experience with verification, validating, and reliability testing.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $119,200.00 - $178,800.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
