A Day in the Life

In this exciting role as a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will serve as a key technical leader responsible for post-market quality, reliability, and risk management for market-released products in the Medtronic Neuromodulation organization. This role will primarily focus on our Deep Brain Stimulation products (DBS).

You will investigate real-world field data, evaluate risk, and partner cross-functionally to ensure our DBS therapies continue to meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

This work spans hardware, firmware, and software applications for DBS products. Your work will include translating field signals into meaningful insights that drive product improvements and strengthen patient/customer trust. Your work will directly influence how DBS technology evolves, from field feedback to design changes, ensuring patients and clinicians can rely on our therapies every day.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead evaluations of field‑observed product performance for DBS systems, including risk analysis aligned with risk management files and existing mitigations
  • Analyze complaint trends, software behavior, labeling considerations, and hardware performance
  • Partner with Medical Safety to assess harm severity, estimate probability of occurrence, and evaluate patient and user risk
  • Evaluate the reliability and risk impacts of design, manufacturing, and software changes for market‑released DBS products
  • Serve as a technical representative for post‑market processes such as CAPA
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners (R&D, Manufacturing, Medical Safety, Regulatory, Quality) to translate field data into actionable improvements
  • Help shape the reliability and risk strategy for a growing and evolving DBS portfolio

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree and
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience writing technical documentation for regulated industries
  • Medical device field experience
  • Experience with data analysis methods to evaluate product performance and reliability
  • Experience working with manufacturing and operations teams

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$106,400.00 - $159,600.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
