At our Quality Department in Medtronic, plc, we focus on supporting the product value stream to ensure that customer and patient needs are met every day. Our key focus is on delivering and maintaining a high level of Quality to ensure that business and performance goals are achieved. The Quality Engineer role is critical in supporting key department metrics thus contributing to the global strategy and to deliver on our mission to contribute to human welfare by supporting the manufacture of products that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

A Day In The Life Of:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for releasing finished sterilised product under supervision
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Participates in preparing/critically reviewing NCMRs/CAPAs and investigations providing QA technical direction and solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensures effective product control measures in the event of issues being noted.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable department, site-wide procedures, and regulations.
  • Support Internal and External audit preparation and activity which includes application and maintenance of quality standards for all activities associated.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Level 7 Degree in Engineering/Science or related discipline with a minimum 1-year relevant direct Science/Engineering experience within medical device environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Practical working knowledge of statistical data analysis, problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques preferable.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and to take initiative is essential.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with others; shows respect and consideration for others.
