Principal Marketing Specialist

The Principal Marketing Specialist is responsible for transitioning the Global Marketing Commercialization plan for the Advanced MIS Platform to the Japan Commercial plan. From a Downstream Marketing perspective, this position will work with COT leaders/regional ambassadors to ensure execution of fiscal plan while identifying and supporting market development initiatives. Within the region of responsibility, the Principal Marketing Specialist will ensure alignment to the Global Strategy, will assess and help to build/expand functional capabilities while serving as the regional conduit for Global Marketing, but will plan, lead and direct the marketing for the product portfolio.

This highly visible role offers candidates an opportunity to develop and implement profitable growth strategies for a key business franchise within Medtronic. Main Responsibilities:

  • Identification of upstream opportunities for market including organic and inorganic opportunity assessment
  • Identify and support market development initiatives
  • Develop strategies and execute marketing plans and programs, both short-and long-term, to ensure the profitable growth and market share of the assigned portfolio.
  • Consultation on hospital IT network solution
  • Develop service solutions on Medical IT network along with cyber security guideline
  • Build strategies and execute data management business including AI technologies
  • Voice of region within PMT
  • Develop promotional strategies, sales support materials, educational aids, etc. to grow market share to ensure sales excellence.
  • Oversee the development of customer satisfaction survey and needs assessment to continuously improve business models and communicate to global partners.
  • Ensure alignment to broader Surgical global strategy
  • Assess and support to build/expand functional capabilities
  • Conduit to regional marketers
  • Align with Digital Surgery business to provide overall IT solution to hospitals
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

Must Haves:

  • 10-15 years of experience in Marketing and Sales.
  • Proven success in marketing and business management.
  • Team orientation, collaboration, written/oral communication, analytical and customer focus, and priority setting.
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, written and verbal skills in English. Proven track record of planning, execution and results
  • Executing in the Matrix, Strategic Agility, Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision Quality, Business Acumen and Innovation Management
  • University degree or its equivalent, MBA a plus
  • Engineering degree is a plus
  • Specialist on Cyber Security Control is a plus

Nice to Haves:

  • Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CBSPD, CHL (HSPA)) is a plus as higher than 2nd level/class which is recognized by Japanese society.
  • Medical cloud service consultation is a plus

The Principal Marketing Specialist reports to a Senior Commercial Director, Robotic Surgical Technology, Japan. The Principal Marketing Specialist will also work with Finance, Sales Operations, R&D, Training and Service departments with regards to product sales tools, as well as other relevant issues.

Key element is flexibility and ability to work independently. Ability to travel as much as necessary for position (up to 70% travel). This role requires commuting to the Medtronic Innovation Center (MIC) approximately once a week.
