Mechanical Design Engineer I

Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division is searching for a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer I to join our growing team! The chosen candidate will be heavily involved in supporting the design work for a critical ablation program.

Cardiac Ablation Solutions team is engaged in development of medical technologies that save lives and improve the quality of life for millions of patients across the world. This is a hybrid role with a 4-day onsite requirement.

A Day in The Life Of:

• Perform concept development and prototyping

• Design metallic and plastic components in hardware devices

• Develop complex hydromechanical systems

• Apply applicable standards to products' design

• Investigate issues raised by suppliers, manufacturing sites or from field

• Create and interpret analyses to determine suitability of design concepts

• Cross-functional collaboration with other stakeholders including program managers, manufacturing and quality.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff

• Incorporate risk-based decision-making into the design process

• Apply Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to all aspects of the design/development process

• Ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables

• Grow and maintain knowledge current with related technologies

• Work with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure feasibility of high-volume assembly

• Translate VoX feedback into product requirements.

• Create and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations

• Travel to suppliers as well as design and manufacturing sites as required

Key Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree and 1 year of experience in mechanical product development
  • Experience in the medical device industry & high volume manufacturing
  • Experience in complex mechanical system design & product risk management
  • Understanding FDA 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485. Issue investigation and CAPAs.
  • Experience in 3D modelling, finite element analysis, and statistical design analysis.
  • Process and test method development &validation
  • Formal training in Six Sigma methodologies
