Sterilizer Technician Opportunity
Medical Application Repair & Sales (MARS) is a trusted service provider supporting ambulatory surgery centers and healthcare facilities across South Carolina and Georgia. We specialize in the installation, repair, and maintenance of mission-critical medical equipment—with a strong focus on sterilization systems and their integrated utility boilers.
We are actively seeking a seasoned Sterilizer Technician with experience servicing steam sterilizers and boilers. If you're a field-savvy professional with a strong mechanical background, technical precision, and a commitment to safety and compliance, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Independently perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on:
- Steam autoclaves (Steris, Getinge, Tuttnauer, Primus, etc.)
- Washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and scope reprocessors
- Under-unit boilers directly integrated with sterilizer systems
- Troubleshoot issues involving steam generation, plumbing, controls, valves, and heating elements
- Conduct validation testing, calibrations, and safety checks per OEM and AAMI/NFPA standards
- Install and commission new sterilizer/boiler units in healthcare facilities
- Maintain accurate service records, compliance documentation, and customer logs
- Act as a trusted MARS representative at customer sites, maintaining clear and professional communication
- Participate in on-call for urgent repairs
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience working with steam sterilizers and washer-disinfectors
- Hands-on experience with small, under-sterilizer utility boilers
- Solid understanding of steam plumbing, mechanical systems, and three-phase electrical systems
- Able to work independently in the field with minimal oversight
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel extensively (75%+) throughout SC and GA
- Strong documentation habits and a mindset focused on safety and compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- OEM training or certification from Steris, Getinge, Tuttnauer, or Primus
- Experience with:
- Boiler descaling, heating element replacement, float switch diagnostics
- Sterilizer installation and startup
- Autoclave validation testing and compliance reporting
- Small utility piping, PRVs, safety valves, and electrical heating systems
- Military technical experience or biomedical/HVAC background is a plus
