Overview

This position provides material handling support to the CNC Department identifying and moving raw and in-process materials and parts throughout the facility as needed, as well as receiving shipments.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • SAFE operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, and material lifting devices used in the Steel Receiving and Material Handling processes in the CNC Department (Laser, Brake Press, and Machining).
  • Use of overhead crane systems and lifting devices to load and unload raw material from delivery trucks.
  • Use of measuring tools (Tape Measure, Caliper, Scale, etc.) to ensure material meets standards for acceptability. If material defects are observed, communicate to Quality Department and Supervision before receiving process is completed.
  • Use computer and portable scanning device (gun) to enter part information, location, inventory in ERP system. Print and install part identification labels as necessary.
  • Receiving shipments - Unloading trucks, verifying receivables to Packing Slip.
  • Perform basic pre-operation inspections on equipment such as crane and fork truck to ensure it is safe to operate.
  • Perform housekeeping throughout material storage bay maintaining 6S standard.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be capable of becoming certified to operate forklift & overhead crane.
  • Ability to accurately interpret measuring tools.
  • Proficient and basic math and computer skills.
  • Use of all PPE

Work Environment: The work environment is a metal fabrication machine shop.
