Senior IT Support Specialist

The Senior IT Support Specialist will perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment, network and software applications throughout the district, respond to help-desk requests, diagnose and repair devices, distribute and set up new equipment and install software as required. They will assist administrators and staff in the integration of instructional technology in the district, responding to help desk requests from parents/students as well as assisting the technology team in installing/maintaining computer equipment and network/software applications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist administrators and teachers in using technology effectively including hardware, e-mail, software, and other applications.
  • Repairs and performs maintenance on computer equipment and related peripherals.
  • Diagnose and resolve computer hardware, software and network problems.
  • Assists staff and students in educational and business software applications such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Works with the Network Manager in assisting with network maintenance and installation of all technology equipment and software.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning to develop and implement technology enhanced curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to facilitate the use of adaptive and assistive technologies to support student learning.
  • Provide/present information to new staff on how to effectively use the districts technical resources (email, student information system, wifi, phones, etc.)
  • Collaborate and assist classroom teachers to more effectively integrate new and existing educational technology into their practice
  • Assist in onboarding district apps including but not limited to iReady, Clever and Google Education
  • Serve as the districts MCAS Technology Coordinator by assisting school principals with creating MCAS sessions and rosters, coordinating chromebooks with the Testnav program and ensuring sessions are prepared, started/stopped, locked/submitted
  • Respond to help desk requests from parents to resolve issues and answer questions
  • Create and maintain student accounts
  • Assist the technology team in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the Director of Finance and Operations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience preferred
  • Strong technical skills including familiarity with student information systems
  • Experience in help desk or support services in an educational environment preferred
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with little or no supervision
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
