Nurse Practitioner, Perioperative Anesthesia

The Perioperative APRN team is expanding and adding additional Nurse Practitioners to our team. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the perioperative and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive care to patients preop/intraop/postoperatively in the main OR and other anesthetizing locations.
• Conducting patient/family interviews and documenting patient medical history, review of systems, physical exam in the preanesthetic evaluation.
• Communicating the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia to patients and families and obtaining anesthesia informed consent.
• Offering expertise as consultant and educator to peri-operative nursing staff.
• Participating in or leading the collection of data for anesthesia cancelations, criteria changes, and improvement processes.
• Functions as a liaison between the anesthesia attending in charge, primary anesthesia, nursing team, and family to optimize patient care.
• Prescribing and administering premedication prior to anesthesia.
• Assisting the anesthesia team in procedural areas.
• Future opportunities exist to become competent in Vascular Access and PICC line placement.
• The role will be on site in Boston and may include possibilities to work in a hybrid fashion.
• Working 30-40 hours per week: three to four 10 hour days per week (No nights, weekends or holidays)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: A Master's degree in Nursing (MSN)
• Experience: 5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics (inpatient or outpatient) is preferred. Would consider new graduate NPs with relevant Boston Children's nursing experience.
• Licensure/Certifications: MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP
