Director Of Facilities And Engineering

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Director of Faculties and Engineering is responsible for the comprehensive leadership and management of facilities operations across a 600,000-square-foot campus, spread across two locations in Holyoke, MA. This includes overseeing maintenance, capital projects, and renovations to address aging infrastructure. The position requires expertise in unionized environments (AFSCME) and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. The Director of Faculties and Engineering will drive operational excellence while supporting the institution\'s mission through strategic planning, fiscal management, and sustainability initiatives. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that the college meets the safety standards and guidelines as determined by the City and Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). The Director is responsible for preparation of project studies, plans, specifications and contracts for repairs, renovations and new construction at Holyoke Community College.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in engineering. Licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a construction supervisor. Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in similar capacity. Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate engineering Experience with computer energy management systems, facilities management systems, spreadsheets and work order systems. Must be computer literate. Demonstrated knowledge of physical plant operation and maintenance, management skills required. Experience in supervising unionized staff, preferably in an academic environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, associates and the public. Ability to manage, supervise and coordinate the work of architects, engineers and contractors. Skill in writing clear and concise reports.

Preferred Qualifications: Certifications such as LEED are highly desirable. Experience working in public higher education or state-funded institutions.
