The Maryland Department of Transportation invites applications for the position of Team Leader (Transportation Design Engineer V) with a salary range of $91,761.00 to $142,914.00 annually. Nature of Work: This licensed Professional Engineer serves as Team Leader within the Traffic Engineering Design Division, directing the statewide Traffic Engineering Remedial Program of Structures. The role leads and supervises a team of licensed and non-licensed engineers and consultants to plan, design, review, and deliver remedial engineering projects for Traffic Control Device and Intelligent Transportation System structures. Core responsibilities include developing and maintaining the statewide asset inventory; planning and managing condition assessments, routine and preventive maintenance, and emergency inspections; performing and/or directing structural analyses; and managing the data and reporting systems that support inspection, inventory, and maintenance activities. The position also serves as a technical expert for TCD/ITS structural standards and procedures, developing and updating guidelines, specifications, manuals, and training, and coordinating with internal offices, consultants, contractors, and local jurisdictions to resolve structural issues and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. The Team Leader manages program schedules and budgets, reviews and approves plans, estimates, specifications, and inspection reports, and oversees consultant resources. Additional responsibilities include customer service and personnel management (work assignment, performance evaluations, and related administrative actions). This is an essential position that may be called upon to respond to emergencies on an as-needed basis.
