Technical Lead And Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Solipsys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace/RTX, is an industry leader in the development of command and control software systems. This position is located onsite in Fulton, MD and does require some travel to customer sites as needed. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

In this position, you will serve as a technical lead and systems engineering subject matter expert on challenging software development projects such as the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S). You will be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies.

This position requires:

  • Perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (IV&V).
  • Serve as Technical Leader of medium to large engineering development teams.
  • Act as systems engineering discipline subject matter expert for department, mentoring other engineers and solving critical technical problems with innovative solutions.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with USMC programs, such as CAC2S.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience with any of the following systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), Command and Control (C2), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems.
  • Understand and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the systems engineering field (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, Mil-Std-499B).
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Sparx systems Enterprise Architect and Cameo.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and applying them as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
  • Active security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
