The incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant in the Health Administration Service at the VA Maryland Healthcare Systems at the following location: Loch Raven VA Medical Center. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, ensuring appropriate patient actions are taken within Integrated Scheduling Solution, daily review of active/pending consults, verifying and updating patient demographics, processing Veteran Identification cards, understanding complex regulations and eligibility criteria concerning veterans, assisting in processing Veterans travel payment vouchers, extracting medical information from electronic records, receiving and directing patients and visitors, relaying test results, independently managing position responsibilities, participating in team let huddles and weekly team meetings, notifying the supervisor when clinic access is less than desirable, coordinating administrative services, ensuring all necessary health/administrative information is integrated into Computerized Patient Record System, developing and maintaining effective working relationships, and conducting patient/employee surveys.

Requirements include being a U.S. Citizen, proficiency in written and spoken English, and subject to background/security investigation.
