Highway Engineering Group Project Engineer

Responsibilities: The Highway Engineering Group works on a variety of transportation related projects within the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA) as well as nationally. The Highway Group participates in the development of roadway alignments, roadside evaluation and design, multi-modal (pedestrian, bicycle, transit) design, maintenance of traffic design, preparation of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and the development of technical reports. Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to bicycle and pedestrian facility projects to complex interchange and corridor projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Senior Project Engineers in a variety of tasks as well as managing projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant job experience related to highway engineering.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization.
  • EIT required, PE license preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Experience designing highway projects and preparing contract documents
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and other relevant highway design guidelines, criteria, and standards
