Duties A. Prepares daily breakfast, lunch, and other items and serves them. B. Cleans the kitchen and serving areas in order to maintain sanitary standards. C. Washes dishes, pots, and pans after each meal period. D. Inspects and signs for food deliveries for compliance with quality and quantity, and stores them. E. Operates cash register and makes deposits at the end of the day. End of day deposit includes counting and balancing register drawers with end-of-day reports, and securing all money in the safe. F. Assists in the preparation and serving of menus for special College sponsored functions. G. Assists other employees in the Hilltop Grill or Valley Eatery with any tasks as assigned by the Lead Food Service Worker or Food Service Manager. H. Responsible for making sure all stock and supplies are locked and secure when business hours are over. I. At the end of the work week, the closer compiles temperature checklists and gets new worksheets ready for upcoming week. J. Preps and stocks supplies for next business day. K. Maintain and update any menu changes as it may relate to the menu boards, registers and web page as need be for both the Valley Eatery and Hilltop Grill. L. Assist Food Service Manager and/or Lead Food Service Worker in preparing orders for pre-approved customers. M. Organize and complete seasonal cleaning lists, scheduled for the Hilltop Grill or the Valley Eatery. N. Assist with food preparation, set-up and clean-up for catered events on campus.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of food storage, preparation, and serving methods; ServSafe Food Protection Certification desirable or ability to obtain same; must be age 18 or older; minimum one year experience working in food service, at a restaurant, school, nursing facility or hospital required. Barista experience is a plus. Cash register experience is a plus. ServSafe certification is a plus.
