Civil Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to design and prepare engineering documents for various design components of a project. This includes stormwater management design, sediment erosion control, storm drain design and computations, water and sewer design, grade establishment plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and right-of-way improvement plans. The ideal candidate will manage standard to routine design tasks, perform technical calculations, and work independently to generate expected results. Coordination with clients, agencies, various departments, engineering teams, and other consultants is a key component of this role.

Responsibilities:

• Design and prepare engineering documents for specific project components.
• Manage standard to routine design tasks and perform technical calculations.
• Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of Design Engineers and Technicians.
• Work independently to achieve expected results.
• Coordinate efforts with clients, agencies, various departments, engineering teams, and other consultants.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in civil engineering, land development, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, stormwater design, and site development.
• At least 3 years of experience working with Civil 3D on land development projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Technical proficiency in roadways and streets, grading, stormwater management design, erosion and sediment control, water distribution design, and sanitary sewer design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• BS degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or working towards it within the next year preferred.
• Aspirations to move into project management.

Work Environment:

Join a reputable firm that has been around for over 50 years. The company employs around 250 people across three offices, with a close-knit team that enjoys company outings together. Offices are located in DC, Northern Virginia, and Germantown, with the MD office being the first. Work three days a week in an office of your choice, pending clearance with the appropriate parties.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, MD.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
