As a member of the UC organization, you will support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
The S3 Engineering team is responsible for maintaining and improving our government customer's cloud storage solutions by reacting to operational incidents while also delivering new and exciting S3 features. We're looking for an Engineer to join our team and be based in Maryland. This position is perfect for professionals interested in creating tools and automation so that engineers can be as hands-off as possible. We want our service to be as automated as possible and that can only be done by having engineers who understand how to think big, simplify solutions to complex, never before seen problems; all while ensuring that the customer continues to have the best experience possible.
We are seeking an engineer who is focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. They should also have a good understanding of Linux, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Key job responsibilities include taking a defined project, breaking down the work to help define milestones, and feedback mechanisms; identifying when implementations are not highly available or have defects; investigating systemic patterns; resolving, mitigating, or escalating operational concerns in a timely manner; and taking a proactive approach to maintaining service health by investigating performance outliers through metric analysis and log diving.

Basic Qualifications include 2+ years of systems administration experience (Linux and/or Networking). Strong debugging and systems analysis skills to be able to identify and quickly resolve/mitigate issues. Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host. Experience working with at least one scripting language. Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications include 2+ years experience with cloud computing technologies. In lieu of above relevant work experience, a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
