Patient Services Representative

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Patient Services Representative (PSR), where your passion for customer service and commitment to patient care will make a meaningful difference. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming experience while efficiently managing administrative and communication duties to support high-quality healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction & Customer Service: Greet patients warmly, verify appointment details, and assist with completing medical history forms. Explain insurance coverage and payment options, including eligibility verification for public programs and sliding fee assessments. Address patient questions with professionalism and respect, fostering positive relationships.
  • Appointment Scheduling & Communication: Schedule and confirm patient appointments, provide appointment reminders, and respond promptly to incoming calls. Make referrals to community resources and address special needs to enhance patient experience.
  • Documentation & Data Entry: Accurately check-in and register patients in the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring all demographic, insurance, and health data are complete and up-to-date. Collect co-payments and record payments securely, providing clear statements of charges and balances.
  • Medical Records & Compliance: Manage electronic medical records by reviewing and distributing documents, filing correspondence, and facilitating record release in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support medical staff by retrieving and organizing necessary documentation.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other administrative tasks as assigned, collaborate effectively within diverse teams, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Assist with safety protocols and participate in risk management activities to uphold a secure environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
  • Experience with electronic health records and healthcare office procedures is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and basic math.
  • Reliability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and have reliable transportation.
