Lean Manufacturing Specialist

Position Summary:
This position supports production by auditing and documenting labor standards and processes, as well as scoping and implementing improvement projects that improve material flow, labor productivity, and product quality. In addition, this role will lead and champion the company’s Lean Manufacturing initiatives, driving a culture of continuous improvement through training, facilitation, and execution of Lean projects across all departments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate, and sustain Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, value stream mapping, and other waste reduction projects.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and coach cross-functional teams on Lean tools and principles.
- Conduct time studies and verify labor standards.
- Apply continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce changeover times, optimize value streams, improve cycle times, analyze bottlenecks, and balance production lines.
- Analyze labor reports and prepare recommendations for efficiency improvements.
- Maintain and write work instructions and training documentation.
- Maintain plant layout and process operations information.
- Develop and maintain production training documents.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- Highly motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lead change initiatives and engage employees at all levels.
- Strong project management and facilitation skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Creative problem-solving with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Must be comfortable working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Education/Experience:
- BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; IET or MaET considered as well.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience leading Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement projects (preferred).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent training/certification a plus.
Work Environment:
This position operates in an office environment and on the production floor. Individual in position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and phones. Production floor environment is warm in summer and cool in the winter.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
