Job Description Summary: Under general supervision, supports all aspects of the credentialing and privileging process for Medical Staff members and Allied Health Professionals at Marin General Hospital (MGH). May assist in the processing of urgent applications or temporary privileges. Supports end-to-end credentialing and privileging for Medical Staff and AHPs; ensures data integrity, primary source verification (PSV), and timely expirables management in alignment with TJC/CMS, Bylaws, and policy.

Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions

Job Requirements

  • HS/GED required; AA/BA preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years hospital/CVO credentialing or medical staff services experience.

Certification

  • CPCS (NAMSS) preferred at hire; required within 24 months (exam support available).
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire.

Tools

  • Microsoft 365; CredentialStream (or equivalent).

Essential Functions (≈85–90%)

  • Process initial, reappointment, and temporary privilege files; ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform PSV for licensure, education/training, affiliations, document findings.
  • Monitor expirables (license, DEA, COI, board cert.) and obtain updates pre-lapse.
  • Prepare credentialing packets/reports, interface with providers, departments, and medical staff leaders.
  • Maintain database integrity and confidential files per policy and HIPAA.

Core Competencies

  • Technical – Primary source verification; expirables management; database quality; packet prep; reporting.
  • Regulatory – Working knowledge of TJC/CMS credentialing/privileging standards; Bylaws/Rules.
  • Behavioral – Detail orientation; confidentiality; stakeholder communication; prioritization under deadlines.

Non-Essential Functions (≤10–15%)

  • General office support (phones/visitors/scanning), special projects as assigned.
