Software Engineer I (Android)

Joining us as a Software Engineer I (Android), you'll play a key role in developing software for next-generation automotive navigation systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Learn and understand the basic requirements of our automotive solutions and help map them to reference platforms, with guidance from senior team members;
2. Write clean, fast code to integrate various data inputs required for our automotive navigation system product offerings, or provide custom-tailored solutions as needed.
3. Support performance tuning of the automotive navigation experience using profiling and debugging tools.
4. Work closely with internal teams to learn and apply best practices for cross-platform API design and performance optimization across different hardware and software setups.
5. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure best practices for cross-platform API design and performance tuning for specific hardware and software combinations.
6. Investigate and triage technical issues between Mapbox, customers, and Tier 1 partners.
7. Improve the product's performance, stability, maintainability, and simplicity.

Important Traits for This Role

• Location: You are based in the Helsinki Metro Area.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with distributed teams and interact with customers or partners under guidance.
• Initial experience or strong interest in software development and customer-facing projects.
• Passion for programming and eagerness to learn about performance considerations in software development.
• Familiarity with Android development.
• Passionate to learn and keep customer trust.
