The AVP for Engineering is accountable for the strategic leadership, management, and supervision of the Engineering Department, ensuring the effective delivery of projects from acquisition through to completion. This role oversees the development and implementation of engineering policies, programs, and performance standards, driving operational efficiency, innovation, and compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems. The AVP is directly involved in acquiring new projects through bidding or negotiated design-and-build proposals, with final approval from the President, and ensures all proposals are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with company objectives.
The position is responsible for leading departmental planning, setting KPIs, managing budgets, and overseeing the professional development and performance of engineering staff. It ensures the accuracy and timeliness of technical submissions, bid documentation, and project implementation plans, while fostering strong client relationships and safeguarding the company's contractual interests. The AVP also manages variation orders, monitors industry trends and emerging technologies, and upholds strict compliance with quality, safety, and information security standards. Ultimately, the AVP serves as the key technical advisor to the President & CEO on engineering strategies, while championing continuous improvement and excellence in project execution.
