Technology Support Technician

The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is seeking a Technology Support Technician to be a key collaborative partner. In this role, you won't just be fixing computers—you'll be the go-to expert who ensures our researchers and staff have the seamless, high-performing tools they need to succeed. You'll use your skills to diagnose and resolve issues, provide crucial support to end-users, and implement innovative solutions that keep us at the forefront of our work. The Technology Support Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining computer systems and peripherals. This includes imaging, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading both software and hardware while ensuring optimal performance and adherence to established standards. The Technician must possess knowledge of both PC and Apple products and will troubleshoot problems in a timely and accurate fashion. This position will perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop issues for end-users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions as needed either face-to-face, over the phone, by email, Zoom, real-time text-based chat, or by using institutional remote assistance tools. The Technician will also collaborate with other Cutler IT and University IT staff as needed to address issues related to technology.

This is a full-time position located on our Portland Campus will pay a starting rate of $25.19/hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. Required Qualifications: Associate degree and one to three years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing PC and Apple hardware and software problems. Strong knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems. Strong knowledge of recent and current Apple operating systems. Experience with current Microsoft products including Office Suite. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience with modern desktop management in an enterprise setting. Effectively collaborate and communicate in a team-oriented environment. Experience with ticketing systems (ex.: TDX).
