The ideal candidate will be a key member of the STEPN organization. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lead Software Developer to join our fast-paced and innovative team. This leadership role is responsible for guiding the design, development, and deployment of scalable, resilient software solutions within a cloud-native architecture. The position involves providing strategic technical direction across the creation and integration of multiple complex systems, translating business requirements into effective technical designs, and contributing to the evaluation and selection of IT solutions aligned with specific business processes. The successful candidate will establish and refine engineering practices, metrics, and methodologies to support both current and future solution development. Responsibilities also include exploring emerging technologies, consulting their application, and ensuring all design and delivery processes adhere to architectural standards. Advanced proficiency in the software development life cycle is essential, particularly in building robust backend systems, APIs, and microservices that power the organization's core products.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Advanced software engineering using modern software languages and architecture pattern and partner with other dev teams to design, contract, and implement full systems, ensuring database reliability integrates with application logic
  • Engagement in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including requirements of review, design, coding, code reviews, testing, deployment, and warranty support
  • Develop and support enhancements and new functionality for applications using modern technologies, including Java, NodeJS, VueJS, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Groovy and Camunda
  • Developing enterprise RESTful web services in REST the latest patterns and developing various data persistence frameworks leveraging SQL, Graph and No SQL solutions as appropriate and maintaining and resolving issues in a highly complex integration architecture
  • Collaborate closely with business partners, architects, and other engineering teams to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions
  • Develop and support enhancements and new functionality to automate deployments in a micro services architecture environment
  • Drive technical excellence, promoting clean code, test-driven development, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
  • Perform code reviews with other team members in a reviewer capacity
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced SW Engineers
  • Be willing to support deployments outside of work hours and participate in an on-call rotation
  • Actively participate in all relevant agile ceremonies for each project iteration

What we look for in a candidate:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise development using Java or JavaScript, and hands-on experience with different frameworks.
  • Significant software engineering experience using modern languages
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google) is required, including a strong understanding of cloud services
  • Deep expertise in scripting, with a proven track record of building and deploying production-grade applications
  • Understanding of range of enterprise databases including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres and Graph Databases
  • Experience with data structuring standards including XML, JSON, and YAML
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
  • Self-starter, can-do attitude within a fast-moving business and technical environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, time management, and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong experience using code versioning tools such as Git and GitHub
  • Experience with containerization technologies to include Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using Groovy and Camunda is preferred
  • Experience with Ciena Blue Planet Inventory platform is a plus

Compensation: This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location based pay ranges: $129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA
