We're looking for a detail-oriented and commercially savvy Senior Financial Analyst to join our high performing finance team. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping business decisions through insightful financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
This pivotal role primarily supports MQ Health, which includes Macquarie University Hospital, Imaging, Consultant Clinics, and Mindspot. It also extends to other entities such as U@MQ and MUSL.
Coordination & Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day tasks of Financial Analysts and act as the second-in-command for the Team Manager when needed.
Financial Close Activities: Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation and review of complex monthly journals (accruals, prepayments, allocations, and balance sheet reconciliations).
Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with key stakeholders on queries, processes, and reports.
Primary Analysis: Manage primary analysis presentations, including salary-related costs and revenue.
Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement process improvements within assigned responsibilities.
Policy Support: Ensure finance policies, procedures, and internal controls are applied correctly.
Journal Review: Review and approve recurring and standard journals prepared by Financial Analysts.
Audit Support: Provide necessary data and information for external audits.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to EEO and WHS regulations.
Inter-Company Transactions: Resolve inter-company transactions, prepare elimination trial balances, and create inter-company reports.
Supply Chain Accounting: Prepare Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) accruals, understanding the supply chain process, and create journals in line with accounting principles.
Prosthetics Analysis: Report on prosthetics analysis and calculate appropriate accruals.
Systems Improvement: Work closely with Systems/IT to implement process improvement initiatives.
You will be part of Group Finance and will be responsible for providing a broad range of financial services to support the University's core mission of teaching and research. Group Finance is organised into the following functional areas: Finance Shared Services, Financial Operations, Financial Performance and Business Partnering and Financial Control, Tax and Treasury.
You have expertise in conducting analysis and reporting with a commercial focus, within a large organisation with complex accounting and reporting requirements. You are an excellent communicator—both written and verbal—and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments. You build and maintain good, respectful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, consistently demonstrating professionalism and a collaborative mindset to achieve shared outcomes.

A Degree in Accounting and be either CA/CPA qualified.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
Proven experience in month-end close processes and prepare of financial statements.

Experience in coordinating and overseeing team members is highly desirable.
A commitment to high standards and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Effective planning and time management skills.
