Process Engineer

Job Purpose: In this critical role you will be responsible for backend processes within MACOM's internal semiconductor fab. This includes the development of new fab processes and sustaining existing processes. The product portfolio includes GaN, GaAs, Si, and InP based technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include development, continuous improvement, and sustaining processes all in close partnership with Device and Integration Engineering as well as Business Unit design teams.
- This is a hands-on position that requires a broad understanding of the equipment and processes. Manufacturing equipment support responsibilities will include set up, qualification, optimization and troubleshooting of the automated equipment for Die Sort, Dicing scribe and break, Tape & Reel and Inspection.
- Specific responsibilities include sustaining TDI backend processes to meet all factory indicators; plans and conducts experiments to fully characterize the process throughout the development cycle; drives improvements on quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity and safety/ergonomic over variables such as material, method, equipment, environment and operating personnel.
- Process support may include daily equipment setup, writing new programs, adjusting / optimizing process parameters, running engineering lots, equipment troubleshooting, as well as assisting production with identifying, responding to, and disposition of non-conforming material (helping with issues at dicing, diesort, inspection, other Fab Processes).
- Taking ownership of the entire process (equipment selection, qualification of the equipment / process, writing detailed / well defined setup instructions / procedures, training operators / technicians other engineers on the equipment setup and use). Updating & creating routes.
- The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of electronics manufacture, with a strong aptitude and interest in working with automated and manual assembly equipment as well as the communication skills required to work with engineering.

Previous Relevant Work Experience:
- 2+ years of semiconductor specific experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Engineering
- Familiarity with typical materials systems for compound semiconductor and a solid understanding of device physics and IC processing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of compound semiconductor processing in a wafer fabrication setting or similar
- Experience with data mining and statistics, SPC and DOE, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving is preferred.
