Electrical Engineering Intern
Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Facility Engineering Division in Plainville, CT. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the design and development of electrical systems as part of our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team. Interns will gain exposure to real-world projects involving lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and renewable energy systems for a range of public and private-sector buildings. This is a paid internship.
This opportunity is ideal for students who are eager to apply electrical engineering principles in the built environment and develop technical design skills in a professional consulting setting.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the design of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
- Support the preparation of construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Conduct field investigations of existing electrical systems
- Perform basic electrical calculations such as load analysis and voltage drop under supervision
- Work with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical modeling tools to support project deliverables
- Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, architectural) on integrated building systems
- Attend internal design meetings and client coordination sessions as needed

What You Bring
- Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Interest in building electrical systems and MEP design
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical design software is a plus
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Prior internship or academic project experience related to building systems is a plus
