WAE - Research Support

This is a part-time temporary position expected to last no more than 12 months with the LSU Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio (CEDS). The applicant will support faculty and conduct interdisciplinary research among design (e.g. architecture, landscape architecture, planning), coastal science, engineering, and other professionals to understand the impacts of climate and landscape change. The position will collaborate with CEDS research faculty and other on-campus groups focused on climate change adaptation and resilience, such as LSU Center for Computation & Technology, LA-SEER Center, LSU College of Engineering, College of Coast & Environment, and College of Art & Design.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers to configure and visualize research outputs such as natural and nature-based solution (NNBS) design scenarios based on ecological modeling frameworks;
  • Configure and visualize ADCIRC modeling products with SMS (Surface-water Modeling System) for completion of scenario simulations;
  • Conduct research and visualizations on future environmental risks and regional designs for NNBS related to risk reduction, multiple benefit considerations, ecosystem services and analysis of NNBS design.
  • Identify typologies, develop themes, and format outputs from multiple years of ecosystem design projects in collaboration with engineering and design researchers to develop a methodological and pedagogical frameworks;
  • Supporting the interdisciplinary research team in the development of publications and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, coastal engineering or a related discipline. Experience in specialized software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, ArcGIS, etc., is a plus.

Additional Information:

This position will require travel related to completing project tasks. Must meet the University's minimum qualifications to operate a motor vehicle while conducting LSU business. Must have a valid driver's license.
