Director of Facility Operations

The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide organization with offices in every parish of Louisiana. We are currently seeking extraordinary candidates for the position outlined below. This position will be domiciled at the Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

The Director of Facility Operations position's primary purpose is maintaining the safety, operations, appearance, and shop for the 23,000 sq ft facility. This position reports to the Professor and Director. Specific duties are as follows:

Keeping a staff of 40, including 30 student workers, aware of safety around the aquatic environment equipment, cryogenic freezing equipment, and the shop equipment. This would include training and compliance with university safety regulations. Monitoring the 75-year-old facility for any safety issues.

Maintaining operational needs through staffing, maintenance schedules, and contractors. Managing special projects involving facility planning and contractors.

Maintaining clean appearance of interior and exterior of the facility including the direction of student workers and collaboration with staff members.

Maintaining a clean, safe shop with well-maintained equipment, tools, and supplies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification requirements include a baccalaureate degree in a related field. Experience in the public sector and/or a university setting is desirable. Must have excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills, along with strong computer skills.
