Meaningful Work And Personal Impact As a Systems Engineer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role in these work areas:

• Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
• Provide engineering support for the systems administrator for systems issues that have been escalated and communicate status to agency management
• Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during infrastructure buildouts
• Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projects
• Develops solutions to a variety of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity
• Perform systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end
• Oversees moderately complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools
• Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
• Performs continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies
• Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
• Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology
• Conduct system requirements reviews
• Develop Systems architectures

What You'll Need To Succeed Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Engineer must have:

• Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
• Experience: 2+ years of related experience
• Required Skills:
• Experience with Active Directory
• Experience with Linux or UNIX operating systems
• Understanding of Project Lifecycle Management
• Understanding of Configuration Management
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Prior Real-time operations/systems experience
• Ability to compose functional requirements/specifications documents
• Ability to guide the selection, implementation, and deployment processes for new technology rollouts
• Ability to respond to after-hour calls ("provide on-call support")
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Preferred Skills:
• Advanced Level Certifications, including at least one advanced certification from a Cloud Provider
• Hands-on experience with automation tools
• Experience with Splunk, Science Logic, Service Now, F5 Load Balancers
• Familiarity with Network Infrastructure
• Experience with SQL database queries and troubleshooting
• Backups (VEEAM, NetBackup, Unitrends)
• Scripting and coding experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, GIT)
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure Cloud providers
• Familiarity with security baselines (i.e. CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs)
• Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization

Security Clearance Level: None, but the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher clearance is preferred. Location: State of Louisiana. Candidates within LA who reside within 60 miles of our Integrated Technology Center in Bossier City, LA will follow a hybrid work model. Candidates within LA who reside more than 60 miles from our offices in Bossier City, LA will follow a remote work model.

The likely salary range for this position is $82,283 - $111,323. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
