Overseeing the function of the kitchen in the facility that feeds over 150 veterans. Our mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of food services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Minimum Qualifications:

• Four years of food service experience in a food service operation; OR
• Four years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR
• Forty-eight semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.

Job Duties:

• Manage the dietary department personnel, including oversight of scheduling personnel, meal preparation, ensuring employee coverage, and high-quality resident care in a 156-bed long-term care facility.
• Leads and evaluates dietary staff performance, provides feedback to the Food Service Specialist 7, recommends disciplinary actions when needed, and handles conflict resolution.
• Conducts Quality Assurance audits and staff in-services, promoting continuous improvement in dietary care delivery and adherence to policy and procedure standards.
• Investigate and report resident complaints and incidents, recommending corrective actions and collaborating with the Food Service Specialist 7 to ensure coordination of proper diet for the residents and review menus.
• Evaluate employee's CPM's and inspect the kitchen for proper sanitation procedures.

Position-Specific Details:

• Appointment Type: Probational
• Compensation: Based on experience
• Premium Pay: $3.00/HR - Worked Hours Only
• Work Schedule: Hours are from Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. to include some weekends and holidays.
