The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. The Louisiana Veterans Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Food Service Specialist 5 to assist with the management and operation of our Dietary department. This role is vital to ensuring supervision over basic-level food service preparation duties within the food service operation. The ideal candidate is a team player, willing to learn, maintain leadership skills and be able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment. Three years of food service experience in a food service operation; OR Three years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR Thirty-six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.
The Food Service Specialist 1/2/3 requires dietary work for the Louisiana Veterans' Home and will perform specific functions such as:
