The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate Food Service Specialist 1 to aid dietary staff in providing high-quality care to our honored veterans. Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training is required.

Job Duties:

• Helps with the preparation of food.
• Performs heavy manual, extensive cleaning activities.
• Set up steam lines, food carts, and special diet trays.
• Operates dishwasher and stores clean dishes.
• Practice good personal and food sanitation regulations and report unsafe conditions.
• Collect and dispose of garbage.

Position-Specific Details:

• Appointment Type: Classified WAE (not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period)
• Compensation: This position is eligible for retention pay (per hour worked).
