DevOps Engineer

The Market Data platform is used in LCH to manage and maintain most of the instrument market data and reference data used within the organization. The Market Data platform is part of the shared services area so gets exposure to many business areas and instruments, and as well as being a shared service, it is a critical service for the business lines to function.

The team has recently moved towards a more Agile way of working and is adapting more core Agile principles, so the team is mostly made up of squads. The squads are typically made up of QA testing skills, QA automation development skills, software development skills, Business analyst skills, and DevOps skills. However, there are instances when squads are made up of very focused skillsets such as Cloud Engineering. There are resources that are not part of the core squad resources, which is generally the senior management.

The base product is based off Alveotech (formally Asset Control), which is a third-party application. The core application is built using the core Alveotech functionality as well as Perl, Python, shell script and Java. A scheduler is also used to drive some of the core processes, using Control-m, which is a third-party application. The application uses MQ and REST API services to integrate with the business lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure
  • Setting up tools and required infrastructure.
  • Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
  • Have the technical skill to review, verify, and validate the software code developed in the project.
  • Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs
  • Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle for its alignment and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing the wastage
  • Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible
  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
  • Coordination and communication within the team
  • Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
  • Mentoring and guiding the team members
  • Monitoring and measuring customer experience and KPIs
  • Designing and implementing DevOps solutions on AWS
  • Monitoring system performance and capacity utilization
  • Communicate complex information clearly to relevant audiences.
  • Take initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications, and projects.
  • Build strong relationships with senior internal partners, growing network and collaborating with own team and colleagues in other domains.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills:

  • 5+ years experience working as a DevOps / Cloud Engineer (or similar)
  • Experience working with scripting languages (python, bash, go, etc.).
  • Experience working with AWS and Terraform
  • Experience working with Automation tools such as Gitlab CI/CD and Ansible
  • Experience working in scrum methods (Agile) and Agile principles.
  • Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services
  • Awareness of critical concepts and DevOps standard methodologies
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties.
  • Desired experience and skills:
    • Experience working with Packer, Docker and Kubernetes
    • Experience working in a Market Data team.
