Engineer Position

We are looking for an engineer to join the ISD Markets engineering function. You will be a key member of a dedicated team of engineers where you can showcase your superb technical proficiency, delivering critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply the best of Operations Engineering to maintain platform stability and reliability,
  • Provide technical expertise and best of breed improvements including but not limited to automation, monitoring and alerting.
  • Lead, deliver and monitor key improvements to the current systems and infrastructure.
  • Architect, Design and Drive enhancements to the environment through to implementation.
  • Own and lead on delivery of key project workstreams.
  • Actively report on project progress, raising risks and managing deliverables often with conflicting priorities and timescales.
  • Plan with foresight to meet deliverables and goals.
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Provide an advanced level of support to the existing environment when required.
  • Act as a key contact point for major incidents.
  • Identify and propose strategic service and system changes, enhancements and developments and liaise with appropriate third party and software vendors, users and technology teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring monitoring performance, issue identification, and taking the lead on resolution.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
  • Work with issue tracking systems to ensure services are provided according to relevant SLA(s).
  • Identify and triage risks and issues and provide frequent status reports for management.
  • Write and maintain appropriate documentation for manual and automated processes.
  • Understand existing complex environments and be able to easily identify problem areas and undertake successful implementations to resolve and/or mitigate.
  • Assist with out of hours / weekend changes.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or a related subject) or have 5 years shown experience in similar role and environment.
  • Shown working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g. VMware, RHEV).
  • Experience with monitoring systems.
  • Experience with automation software (e.g. Ansible, Puppet).
  • Scripting skills (e.g. Shell scripts, Python, Perl, Ruby).
  • Networking knowledge.
  • Database Knowledge (Oracle, PL SQL).
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management.
  • Be dedicated, responsive and capable to working to tight deadlines
