The work involves:

• Defining and owning system-level test and validation strategy across multiple programs, including coverage models, risk assessment, and release criteria
• Architecting scalable, efficient test solutions across hardware, software, and system integration layers
• Leading cross-functional efforts with design, product, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure robust validation and smooth product releases
• Driving automation strategy to improve test coverage, reduce cycle time, and increase efficiency
• Analyzing complex datasets to identify failure trends, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions
• Establishing and championing best practices, methodologies, and standards for test engineering across the organization
• Mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership without relying on formal authority
• Serving as a key decision-maker in product readiness and quality assessments

Our functional group, the Production Operations Test Technicians, is composed of seven professionals with a common purpose to provide the pilots of the United States and our Allies with high quality pilot training devices. We are the connection between each program's development engineers who integrate new capabilities into subsystems and the remainder of our Production Operations organization who create high quality products in repeatable processes. We have a unique role that gains expertise in both deployable hardware and deployable software.

We're looking for a Senior Staff Test Engineer to define and drive our end-to-end test strategy for complex systems. This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on shaping how validation is done across programs—not just executing tests. You'll influence architecture, improve quality at scale, and serve as a go-to expert for the most challenging technical problems.

Desired skills include:

• Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives and influence technical direction
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing, lab instrumentation, or automated test equipment (ATE), depending on domain
• Background in developing scalable validation frameworks for complex or safety-critical systems
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field
• Track record of improving product quality and test efficiency at an organizational level

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
