Our Team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Regional team, is constantly engineering, developing and integrating new capabilities for the U.S. Missile Defense System. Protecting both the United States and its allies. This large, fast paced team, is composed of many small agile teams working together dynamic environment with a common mission to develop and deploy leading-edge missile defense technologies.

The Work The Regional Applications Systems Software Engineer is to act as the primary software technical liaison between Regional Applications (RA) cross functional product teams, and Systems Engineering and Verification, Integration and Test RMAs, for system engineering-related efforts. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the systems and software design efforts for the C2BMC Battle Manager / Sensor Resource Manager Agile cross-functional product team. Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support system-level design activities for the software subsystem, including behaviors, data flows, and interfaces
  • Perform technical analysis to evaluate design approaches, identify risks, and support integrated decision making
  • Translate system requirements to logical software architectures, algorithmic approaches, and software design
  • Support integration efforts with other software product teams
  • Conduct trade studies and design evaluations
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Support software verification activities

This role is best suited for either - A systems engineer with strong technical depth in software development - A software engineer with strong technical depth in systems engineering

Desired skill for the position include:

  • Familiarity with engineering and collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, etc
  • Strong background in system design, architecture, or performance analysis
  • Experience with algorithm design and development
  • Experience with system integration and interface development
  • Experience with performing formal and informal trade studies
  • Experience working on an Agile cross functional team
  • Experience in Missile Defense Domain solutions
  • Specific experience in Missile Defense Sensor systems
  • Specific experience in technical areas or battle management, sensor management, engagement planning, track processing, or other fire control concepts

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
