Become a part of something impactful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation's defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.

The selected Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the HWE environmental team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance of the GWS system design with hardware requirements, through equipment evaluation and design guidance and analysis products. This role directly supports the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels. Due to the nature of the role, this is not being offered as a teleworking or hybrid position.

Individual must possess good communication skills. Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions. Capable of working both independently and within a team environment. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. Recent experience leading a small team, including task and schedule planning, to meet major project milestone objectives. Mentoring and cross-training junior engineers in analysis work, reviews, and approving their analysis results to meet customer requirements. Recent experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, technical reports, test procedures, program procedures, and CDRLS. Prior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of mechanical and structural components, systems, or subsystems. Experience reviewing engineering specifications, electrical schematics and/or drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications. Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-310, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-HDBK-1791, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, TEMPEST 01-13. Experience using analytical software tools, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends. Experience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, etc. Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process). Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware. Experience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling theory and application using industry standard structural analysis software (ANSYS, GTStrudl, ABAQUS, STAAD, Femap, NX Simcenter, NASTRAN, Creo Simulation or SolidWorks Simulation). DOORS and/or CAMEO exposure.

Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
