Lockheed Martin's Next Gen Geo (NGG) OPIR Mission Operations Support (NMOS) Team is an industry leader in infrared payload launch and satellite operations that maintains a deep, cohesive relationship with our launch and mission customers while developing a holistic understanding of the NGG Interim Operations (NIO) system and providing adaptive inter-organizational surge support. NMOS promotes the operational perspective across the NIO initiative while being the center of operational training. The NMOS Team is hiring an Associate Engineering Manager who will be accountable for day-to-day technical performance execution on the program located in Longmont, Colorado and Boulder, CO. The program role will involve Integration, implementation of Ground Software and Satellite Vehicle processes and procedures, Launch Readiness, Training, Crew Operations Support and/or Rehearsal functions to prepare for and execute NGG Launch and Operations. In addition, they will be responsible for timely staffing/hiring, employee engagement, talent development and management, and effective 360 deg communication. The successful candidate is responsible for successfully leading and managing a workforce of approximately 12 Lockheed Martin Space employees that support the NGG OPIR program. This position will require the candidate to effectively communicate, collaborate and partner with the Operations and Engineering Leadership personnel, Program Manager, peers, employees and subcontractor personnel, and Customers to successfully meet both functional and LOB technical and business goals/objectives. This position will also require support to Program Management business rhythms, related new business activities, and customer meetings. The Systems Engineering Associate Manager must demonstrate a strong commitment and adherence to the Lockheed Martin Core Values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and have a history of team building, collaboration, and customer relationship management. The individual must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently with minimum management oversight. The position roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Technical and/or Project leadership and planning
  • Talent assessment and development consistent with Lockheed Martin Human Resource processes and practices – including the management and development of team leads and individual contributors
  • Workforce planning and implementation – including assigning the appropriately skilled/capable resources to programs, projects and other business initiatives (consistent with budget constraints); managing and forecasting current and future staffing needs/requirements
  • Dissemination of company information in a professional and timely fashion
  • Enforcement of company and government policies and procedures and regulations
  • Development and administration of employee performance assessments, salary adjustments and promotions in accordance with Lockheed Martin Policy and Compensation Philosophy.

Desired skills:

  • Satellite Launch and Early Orbit Test planning and execution and/or Satellite day-to-day operations - preference to OPIR Operations
  • Experience managing/leading technical and/or operations teams on DoD programs
  • Well organized self-starter with ability to think 'outside the box' and work both independently and in a team environment to meet deadline(s)
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

Work Schedule Information: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $109,200 - $192,510. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
