Structural Analysis Engineer - Level 3 (SMES)

At Lockheed Martin's Moorestown, New Jersey facility, our Launchers Engineering Team develops and supports advanced launcher systems used in naval and defense applications. We focus on designing, analyzing, and validating structures that ensure reliable performance under extreme operational environments. Our work enables safe, accurate, and dependable deployment of critical systems that support mission success for our customers.

The Work

As a Senior Structural Analyst on the Launchers Engineering Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and performance of launcher components and assemblies. Your work will include:

• Performing structural, shock, vibration, and non-linear (dynamic) analyses of launcher systems.
• Conducting finite element and classical stress analysis on launcher components, subassemblies, and integrated systems.
• Supporting design development through part sizing, fatigue/fracture assessments, and trade studies.
• Analyzing composite and metallic materials used in launcher structures.
• Supporting system-level and component-level testing, including test planning and correlation with analytical models.
• Developing and presenting stress, structural, and fracture analysis reports.
• Investigating hardware discrepancies during fabrication, assembly, and integration of launcher systems.
• Collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve technical issues.
• Assisting in the development of test concepts, instrumentation layouts, and data acquisition plans.

Please note: This position is based out of Moorestown, NJ. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Who You Are

You are a structurally focused engineer who excels at solving complex mechanical and structural problems. You bring:

• Strong experience with structural analysis, finite element methods, and classical stress techniques.
• Familiarity with dynamic environments such as shock, vibration, and impact loading.
• Experience analyzing launcher systems, mechanical assemblies, or similar aerospace/defense structures.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across engineering disciplines.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Experience communicating technical results through reports and presentations.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to investigate and resolve integration issues.
