Staff Materials & Processes Engineer

You will be the Materials and Process Engineer for our Engineering Department. Our team is responsible for developing and optimizing materials for use in structures, systems, and subsystems on major production programs, driving innovation in the aerospace industry.

What You Will Be Doing As the Materials and Process Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and surface treatments to tackle complex technical problems. You will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and optimizing materials for engineering applications
  • Conducting failure analyses, life predictions, and material property development
  • Creating technical documentation and input for data packages and reviews
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including product development, analysis groups, and production operations
  • Developing and releasing engineering drawings and documents using Windchill

This position is located in Grand Prairie, TX.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (preferably in Material Science or Materials Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years or more of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Familiarity and a strong background in material manufacturing processes, material testing processes and procedures. Considered an emerging authority. Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-sight as needed for assignments.

- Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering/Science - Familiarity with components and subassemblies - Familiarity with evaluating and developing material and specifications - Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note - Demonstrated interpersonal skills - Familiarity with programs at MFC - Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material plans, material and process reports, and potential proposals are necessary - Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and team environment - Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
