Manufacturing Engineer Senior | Lockheed Martin
Role Overview As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will design and implement manufacturing strategies for complex missile assemblies. You will solve technical and organizational challenges, influence product design for manufacturability, and support the transition of new or revised designs into production. This role directly impacts the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of production while contributing to Lockheed Martin's mission in space innovation and national security.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
- Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, layouts, and procedures for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, painting, and material handling.
- Interpret drawings and model-based designs, translating them into actionable manufacturing steps using MES and CAD tools.
- Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments.
- Create specifications and procedures for tools, fixtures, and manufacturing aides, adapting equipment for production conditions.
- Ensure new designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet design-for-excellence goals.
- Identify production risks and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical and organizational challenges.
- Lead team members in implementing engineering changes, process improvements, and team initiatives.
- Provide on-floor production support, troubleshoot issues to root causes, and implement solutions.
- Introduce and optimize advanced manufacturing technologies and automation.
- Communicate directly with government customers and provide design producibility input.
- Support suppliers and internal teams in manufacturing processes.
- Develop inspection tools, incorporate quality points into Manufacturing Work Instructions, and ensure processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Apply statistical process control and data analytics to improve processes.

Desired skills

- Experience with NC programming using MasterCAM or similar software.
- Knowledge of how to set up and implement new machining centers in production.
- Experience using CREO, DFMPro, SAP, and Apriso.
- Experience transitioning aerospace products from development into production.
