As a Manufacturing Engineering Sr Stf within IGNITE, you will work in the Severn Operations Manufacturing Team providing support to internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing concept and process solutions for production applications cover advanced technologies including but not limited to composites fabrication, assembly, automation, inspection, direct part manufacturing, emerging technologies, as well as digital capabilities.
  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
  • Provide guidance regarding design concepts, TRL/MRL maturity, and specification requirements to best utilize resources and manufacturing techniques, and ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • Interface with internal and external customers, program offices, engineering disciplines, and executive management
  • Facilitate engineering support, review and approval of Bid & Proposal (B&P) requests
  • Support program gate reviews as the engineering review authority, and assist in resolution of program engineering challenges (technical, financial, and staffing)
  • Make decisions that impact the organization, operations, and services in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to provide PCB/PCBA Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback and identify manufacturing risks early in development
  • Partner with supply chain and EEE components engineers to establish and enforce a preferred parts list, identify alternate parts, and address part obsolescence
  • Perform in-depth reviews of schematics, eCAD/MCAD, BOMs and Fabrication and Assembly drawings in Solidworks, Altium, Mentor and Zuken.
  • Contribute to design reviews as a subject matter expert in manufacturability, testability, yield improvement, supplier capability, and quality control
  • Define and document manufacturing and test best practices for PCB/PCBA designers to adhere to.
  • Lead PCB/PCBA manufacturing vendor selection and qualification, define manufacturing readiness requirements, and drive milestone reviews
  • Develop and validate advanced manufacturing and test processes, including equipment selection, commissioning, documentation, and training
  • Direct and coordinate PCB fabrication and PCBA manufacturing activities, including managing supplier relations, overseeing quarantine and rework operations, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Write and maintain engineering documentation including drawing notes, mBOMs, work instructions, inspection requirements, rework practices, and standard operating procedures
  • Support technicians and engineers in building prototype hardware and transitioning designs from development, through qualification, and into production
  • Investigate non-conformances to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and drive systemic improvements to designs and manufacturing processes
  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk, simplify processes, and enhance PCB/PCBA quality, throughput, and cost

Desired skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Experience implementing and enforcing Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) principles and leading DFX reviews
  • Experience with tools such as Solidworks, Altium, SiliconExpert, Valor, and GIDEP
  • Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers and suppliers to improve reliability, lead time, and cost
  • Ability to lead small teams in root cause investigations and process improvements
  • Strong technical writing skills for manufacturing documentation and communication
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with a track record of cross-functional teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with internal and external partners
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $117,200 - $206,770. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
